Project Management

My Role

Thanks to a long career in media, I’ve had the opportunity to produce a number of projects over many years with several creative teams. I have extensive experience goal-setting, managing teams, budgeting, scheduling and facilitating communications.

Tools: Asana, Basecamp, Google Suite, Miro, Movie Magic, Trello.

Sundance Film Festival

As manager of the short film program from 2007-2011, my responsibilities included…

  • Managing the shorts programming team for the Sundance Film Festival, setting deadlines and facilitating communications for a team of six.

  • Co-Founder and Operations Lead of Sundance ShortsLab: a ticketed multi-city live event that traveled to packed houses in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.

  • Lead producer on one of the first online distribution initiatives of its kind (iTunes, YouTube Screening Room), including project management, content strategy, digital asset management, metadata, and quality control.

Independent Media

Having produced various pieces of independent media content, here are some of my highlights…

  • Led operations and ran set control for crews up to 50 people.

  • Budgeted and scheduled productions such as short films and branded content, feature films and episodic series, and multiple audio projects.

  • Managed and ran payroll for vendors including graphic artists, musicians, various production crew, and casts.

  • Once produced and ran set for a music video with over 200 extras.

Super Deluxe

During 2015, I was a producing consultant for Super Deluxe (a now defunct division of WarnerMedia), where one of my main responsibilities was being a set supervisor, and acting as a liaison between the creative team and the studio. This role demanded communication and creative problem solving. These duties included…

  • Making sure creative remained in line with the studio’s goals.

  • Keeping studio staff abreast of any updates or changes.

  • Writing a wrap-report each night that went to studio heads.

Also…

While project managers come in all shapes and sizes, here are some of the ways I feel my skill set is unique...

  • I have a brain that can play in both spheres: from creative ideation, to organization and planning.

  • I believe a good manager maximizes the strength of those on the team, while having patience to work through the weaknesses.

  • I love match-making — finding ways to put people on a team together where their complementary skill sets can be a recipe for success.
